AI project import
Stop retyping project drawings. Import the PDF.
Upload the designer's PDF or a photo of the drawing. StoneCraftOS reads rooms, dimensions, materials, finishes and cutouts and loads them into Sketch-BIM for you to review.
Less retyping. Fewer measurement typos. A faster first estimate.

What is a countertop takeoff?
From drawing to piece list, without retyping.
A takeoff is the step where someone reads a project drawing and writes down every countertop: its dimensions, material, finish, sinks and cutouts.
StoneCraftOS automates the first pass. It reads the PDF or photo and fills a Sketch-BIM project that your team checks and adjusts.
The problem
The information is on the drawing. It is not in your system.
- DrawingThe designer sends a PDF.
- ReadingSomeone reads every page for dimensions.
- TypingThe numbers are typed into a spreadsheet.
- CheckingAnother person double-checks them.
- EstimateThe quote starts only after all of that.
- The costTyping errors and lost hours before the quote even begins.
The drawing already has the information. It just is not in the job record yet.
Retyping is where measurement typos are born.
How it works
From a PDF or photo to a reviewed Sketch-BIM project.
- 01 Upload A PDF or a photo of the drawing.
- 02 Read Text in the PDF first; image analysis only when needed.
- 03 Extract Rooms, pieces, materials, finishes and cutouts.
- 04 Review Check and adjust everything in the Sketch-BIM editor.
- 05 Estimate The reviewed project feeds the estimate.
The drawing becomes data. You stay in control of it.
What it reads
It reads what the drawing says, in the order that is most reliable.
The import uses the text inside the PDF first, because it is the most reliable source. It falls back to OCR text, and looks at the page visually only when information is missing or unclear — for example on pages labeled floor plan, top view or countertop. Photos and scanned PDFs are analysed visually.
- Rooms and room names
- Countertop length, depth and thickness
- Material and finish (polished, honed, brushed, leathered…)
- Sinks, faucets, cooktops, wet areas and LED strips
- Centimeters or inches, detected from the drawing
You stay in control
Nothing goes to a quote without your review.
The result opens in the Sketch-BIM editor, where every piece, cutout and dimension can be checked and changed before it is used. Instruction notes from the drawing, such as "confirm measurements on site", are kept with the project.
- Review in the visual editor, piece by piece
- Notes from the drawing are preserved
- Custom parsing templates for drawing formats you receive often
- Field measurement still confirms the numbers on site
From import to estimate
The same record keeps going.
Once reviewed, the project feeds the estimate, the proposal and production. There is no second round of data entry between the drawing and the quote.
- Imported pieces carry material, thickness and cutouts
- The estimate is built from the same project
- Proposal and production read the same record

FAQ
AI project import, explained.
What is a countertop takeoff from a PDF?
It is reading a project drawing to list every countertop with its dimensions, material, finish and cutouts. StoneCraftOS does the first pass for you and loads the result into Sketch-BIM.
Which files can I import?
PDFs and photos of drawings, including scanned PDFs. Text inside a PDF is used first; image analysis is used when the text is missing or unclear.
Is the result always correct?
No import is perfect, which is why the result opens in the Sketch-BIM editor for review. Every piece, cutout and dimension can be checked and changed before it is used in an estimate.
Does it understand centimeters and inches?
Yes. The import detects the unit used by the drawing, centimeters or inches.
Does this replace field measurement?
No. The import reads what the drawing says. Field measurement still confirms the numbers on site, and notes like "confirm measurements on site" are kept with the project.
